Legacy Of The Bruce Lee Brand
Monday, December 14th, 2009Deceased artists and celebrities continue to generate substantive amounts of revenue for the owners of their estate through merchandising and endorsement deals. Marilyn Monrow curtains, Andy Warhol thongs, Elvis candy dishes — the possibilities, tacky and otherwise, are almost endless.
While Bruce Lee remains an icon of global popular culture, his estate has been handled terribly since his unexpected death in 1973.
Bruce Lee’s daughter has recently come on board the Estate’s management in an effort to rebuild his image in the global marketplace. She calls it “relaunching the brand, as it were.”
